Crissi Cochrane releases long-awaited HEIRLOOM on vinyl

The wait is over. After six years, Crissi Cochrane returns with the full-length album Heirloom - her longest yet, clocking in at 11 tracks, and her largest production ever, with the talents of 14 musicians, backing her songs with a solid rhythm section and a small orchestra.

It's fitting that this lush album should be Crissi's first to go vinyl. Eschewing the synthetic bent of modern pop production, this hit-stacked record recalls the class and energy of recordings from the mid-twentieth century (think Motown and Verve Records), built on the organic voices of live instruments and singers.

Heirloom is the first original album to come out of the Soul City Music Co-op, a musicians' co-op based in Windsor, Ontario, and co-founded by Crissi Cochrane and her husband/producer, Mike Hargreaves. Second to starting a family together, Heirloom is Crissi and Mike's greatest collaboration, combining Crissi's next-level songwriting and performance with Mike's brilliant mind for arrangements that build and complement, a harmonious balance of mood, music, and meaning.

While side A of Heirloom is thick with potential singles, side B delves into uncharted creative territory with moody Midnight Wind (think James Bond theme song), songwriting form-breaking and heart-aching Heaven ("Heaven, is there really heaven? Is there truly such a place that I can't see?"), and the stunningly climactic closer, Everything.

Heirloom is Crissi at the zenith of her skill as a vocalist, guitarist, and writer, fully matured and immaculately presented, poised to indelibly imprint and elevate the sound of Canadian music on a global scale.

Crissi Cochrane combines the heart of an East Coast singer-songwriter with the soul of Windsor/Detroit, living and writing just a stone’s throw from the birthplace of Motown. Originally native to the rural and beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Crissi fashions a sultry, soulful brand of popular music, jazz, and R&B, with silky vocals that call to mind the voices of Billie Holiday and Norah Jones.

Her song “Pretty Words”, from her 2014 album “Little Sway”, went viral on Spotify with more than 12 million listens, and her song “A Damn Shame” was used in the TV show Nashville. A prolific songwriter, Crissi also writes custom love songs by request, transforming true love stories into songs, with more than 70 custom songs completed since 2016, and resulting in her delivering a TEDx Talk, “Love Songs For Hire”, in 2018. Crissi's latest album, HEIRLOOM, is set to be released on February 29, 2020, featuring 11 songs backed by a solid rhythm section and a small orchestra.
